STEVE LAU
Steve is a Partner at Whitecap Venture Partners, a leading Toronto based venture capital fund focused on early stage technology investing. Previously, he was co-CEO of FieldEdge, a service management software provider for the home contractor market that he acquired in 2015. In three years, Steve scaled FieldEdge from 25 to 200 employees, transformed the business from server-based to cloud-based, and sold the company to Advent International. Early in his career, Steve spent several years with CPPIB where he completed $11B in private equity transactions. He also worked in investment banking at TD Securities.
In 2018, Steve received an EY Entrepreneur of the Year award and in 2019, he was named Canada Top 40 Under 40. Steve has a BBA from the University of Toronto, where he is now a Lecturer in the Management program, and an MBA from Wharton Business School.
RAMEEZ ANSARI
Rameez is an experienced CEO and investor, and has led the profitable growth of numerous operating companies. He is currently a Lecturer in the Finance Department at the University of Toronto and a Director at Synergy Corporation, a family owned business focused on the energy sector in Pakistan. Previously, he was CEO of FieldEdge, a vertically focused software business which he acquired, grew more than 5x, and eventually sold to a mega cap private equity fund, Advent International. FieldEdge was recognized as among America's fastest growing private businesses consecutively from 2016-2018. Rameez spent his early career as a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. In 2018, Rameez received an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Rameez graduated with a Bachelors in Business Administration with High Distinction from the University of Toronto and earned a Masters in Business Administration from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford.
